Background:

The Splu Urtaf Show was the brainchild of Aaron Yonda and Benson Gardner, two high school friends who realized in college that their calling was to form an innovative sketch comedy show.  Developed initially for the University of Eau Claire public access station, Splu was nearly abandoned by Yonda a few years ago, but strong local demand following a retrospective screening in his hometown of Menomonie, WI convinced him to continue production.  The name “Splu Urtaf” was invented by Yonda during a high school chemistry class and appeared in several of his short stories as an English major at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

What are your influences from television?

Aaron Yonda cited Monty Python, particularly the sketch, “Fish-Slapping Dance,” where he first observed what he calls “freedom in absurdity.”
